Need To Be In The Light

As a Christian you begin to see the world quite differently than you did prior to your faith. If you were blessed with a holy perspective in your upbringing, then it’s probably safe to say you see the world quite differently than others.

One thing that is evident is that as a Christian you need light to grow.

“I want to be in the light, as you are in the light!”

Great, now I have that song by DC Talk stuck in my head! đŸ˜‰

You need to fellowship in the light of God’s presence in order to nurture your relationship with him, otherwise it can grow very dry and shallow; it will begin to leave you quite empty. Many times in Jesus’s life He would state, “the Kingdom of Heaven is like…” (Matthew 13, 18, 20, 22, 25, etc.), and then began to reveal how the physical world we experience is a shadow of the heavenly kingdom to come. Therefore we begin to see very clearly the connections between the images of nature and our spiritual place with God. Continue reading

Last year, my husband and I participated in a Brush Party date night, in which we shared a canvas and collectively set out to create a “Desert Sunset” with our Young Marrieds’ class at church. It’s OK to Cry

Chick-flicks, sobby Facebook post, inspiring videos and other emotionally packaged messages can often wage war on our emotional conscience as human beings. As a woman I imagine there is pleasure gained from the emotional connection established in these moments, but as a man it seems there is an internal conflict to answer to during the emotional solicitation; that is, “to cry or not to cry” (that is the solicitation). Get it? đŸ™‚

I know it is not the manliest thing to say, and some men might even disagree with me to some extent, but when I titled this post I meant what I said and said what I meant, “it is OK to cry, and sometimes you really should.” Continue reading
